This stunning gelding is 3 years old and appears to be part draft, about 15.3 HH. He came to us with an injury to his hind leg and has since developed stringhalt which leaves him with an unusual gait. He is not in pain but he would not make a good candidate for training to ride. If you're looking for a beautiful lawn ornament, he's your guy! He does not require any pain meds or medical attention at this time. He's still quite shy and needs a lot of work to gain his trust. He is not yet halter broke but he is a sweet guy that hangs out in the middle of the herd.
Junior's adoption fee is $500
Poor Luffy has had a lot going on this year. His owners contacted us after he suffered a suspected gunshot wound to his withers. We assisted with multiple vet visits and the infected wound just wouldn't heal properly. After several months of assisting them, the family decided to surrender him into our care. We had a specialized veterinary perform another surgery on him but he's still battling a deep infection. "Lou" is super gentle and kind and he deserves every chance we can give him for a full recovery and a happy home. He's a Fjord/ QH cross.
Luffy's adoption fee is negotiable.
This 5 year old gelding is a fan favourite! Draco has the most beautiful blue eyes and a super sweet temperament. He came to us wild and unhandled but he was always curious and gentle, quick to trust humans and eager to get in line for treats. He's halter broke, gelded and getting handled a little more each day. His gentle demeanour makes us think he'd be a great addition to any herd, easily adapting to all the new horses as they arrive. He has a strong and stocky body, stands about 14.2 HH, and he seems sure footed and smart.
Draco's adoption fee is $750
Venus (formerly Foxie) was an owner surrender and arrived at JRR in May of 2024. She was severely underweight and with TLC she has blossomed into a beautiful old lady. She stands nice to get her feet and teeth done and all she needs now is specialized feed and pain management meds for her dropped fetlocks. She is a sweet and loving mare but remains a tad aloof, happy to hang out and get some treats and loving pets each day. Her supplements and meds cost about $400 a month. She will be up for adoption to the right home that will continue her treatments and let her live the rest of her life just being loved on.
Venus's adoption fee is $500
Meet Willow, the old grey mare that's been making babies her whole life. Willow and Moon (who is now on our Memory Wall page) came in as a bonded pair and she holds a special place in our hearts for so many reasons. Due to her age and her body condition, Willow will likely become a permanent resident at JRR unless we find the perfect forever home that will let her just be a horse. She was extremely fearful when we first met her but over several months we've been earning her trust and are able to hand feed her now. She has a very kind eye and a feisty spirit which makes her our resident warrior. She gave birth to Ivy in June 2024.
Willow's adoption fee is negotiable.
Aponi (from the Siksika/Blackfoot word apaniiwa meaning "butterfly") in December 2024 looking defeated and confused about being moved around. This quiet mare is about 25 years old and is still quite skinny. We had her teeth done and hopefully that helps her fill her belly and put on some weight. She is getting daily senior supplements and is in fair physical condition. She is probably broke to ride but we won't test her until she's had time to decompress and relax. She gets along with her herd mates quite well, and eagerly approaches for treats and pets.
Aponi's adoption fee is $750
Denali (from the native Athabascan language meaning "the great one"). This gorgeous red dun gelding is 4 years old and is super gentle. He also arrived at the rescue in December of 2024 and he came in with an injury to his hind leg. We had it x-rayed to find out he has some ligament damage. He doesn't limp or favour it so he is sound but he should be monitored and will be suitable to train for light riding in his future. He also has several ulcers on his tongue which need time to heal so for now, we just let him hang out with his new friends. He is not yet halter broke but he is easy to handle and catch, should be nice to train under saddle.
Denali's adoption fee is $1000
Ember arrived at the rescue in December 2024. This gelding is about 4 or 5 years old and is a cautious boy, but once he knows you won't hurt him, he settles in for some soothing scratches and gentle pats. He is in good physical condition and is halter broke but he needs time to decompress and learn to trust. He loves to come close but it's on his own terms. He acts as though he's been handled roughly so a kind and gentle approach is a must. He would be a perfect match with our other cremello gelding, Draco. He may be green broke but he has not been tested yet.
Ember's adoption fee is $750
Tamaari, meaning "strength", also arrived with Ember, Denali, Aponi and Agni on December 17, confused and cautious. This older guy appears to be about 20 years old and definitely needs to put on some weight. We had his teeth done and overall, he's in fair condition apart from needing some groceries. He is also getting daily senior supplements is probably broke to ride but we have not tested him yet. Once you catch him, he is super quiet and stands tied very patiently. He seems to have had a rough life so a gentle hand will go a long way with building a relationship with him.
Tamaari's adoption fee is $1000
*** ADOPTED***
Agni (a Sanskrit word meaning "fire God") is a gorgeous gal with a wonderful personality. She is about 3 years old and appears to be a Rocky Mountain Horse, about 14.3 HH. She also arrived on December 17 so we are still needing some time to get to know her. Our vet gave her a clean bill of health and she is very friendly, loves attention, and picks up her front feet nicely. She gets along with all the others and respects their space when they need it. She ties well and leads well but will still need some gentle ground work to get a good start. She is a stunning young mare and will definitely turn heads.
Whiskey and Lady are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. Whiskey is a 12 year old gelding and is best suited as a companion horse. He is halter broke and super friendly but he is not a good candidate for riding due to enlarged knees which MAY give him problems as he ages. He currently is sound and has no physical limitations.
Whiskey & Lady's adoption fee is $1200
(for the pair)
Ivy was born at the rescue to Willow, 8 months after Willow arrived. She will be one year old in June. We suspect her sire was Moon (photo of Moon on the Memory Wall page). Ivy is as special as they come, and absolutely loves people and other horses. She has a lot of personality and has been handled a lot. We are working on halter breaking her and lifting her feet, and will soon start loading her in and out of the trailer. She's a big and solid girl, we expect she will mature to be about 15.2 HH and she is a beautiful strawberry roan color.
Ivy's adoption fee is $750
We have four new horses that will be added to this page in the next few weeks. Three are pregnant mares and one is a coming 2 year old paint stud colt.

Once they've been vet checked, fully assessed and cleared for health and temperament we will be looking for new homes for all of them. They are currently in need of monthly sponsors and you will find their full information on the "Sponsor" page.
